Limiting Factors Within Biomes
6.L.2.3 SWBAT summarize how the abiotic factors (such as temperature, water, sunlight, and soil quality) of biomes (freshwater, marine, forest, grasslands, desert, Tundra) affect the ability of organisms to grow, survive and/or create their own food through photosynthesis.
- I will identify non-living and living factors in a wide variety of environments.
- I will model the abiotic and biotic factors in a biome.
- I will predict how limiting factors affect ecosystem.

Gopher Dead...Roommate Needed
Your roommate died in a tragic accident and you were left without a friend to live with. Create a Craigslist post or a flyer that advertises the vacancy in your biome. It's important that you are honest and upfront about the living conditions. Be sure to include information about abiotic factors, biotic factors, how energy flows in the environment, etc...
Example of a Craigslist Post for a Room to Rent in Winston-Salem
Room in 4 bedroom house available for the months of July - October.
This is a a community house of students and residents. Everyone is very friendly and laid back. We try to cook meals together at least once a week and hold a cookout for the neighborhood once a month. We have high interest in gardening, getting involved in the community, trying to live somewhat sustainably, and being supportive of each other.
If you are a visiting resident looking for a quite atmosphere or just looking for a short term stay during the summer this is a great spot.
We have a washer and dryer downstairs and plenty of parking space in the back.
The house is in Ardmore about a mile from Baptist Hospital and a few miles from downtown. . . all still within biking distance.
Bed is already available.. but the rest of my stuff will be moved out.
Rent is cheap.
